The Art of Loving Me

December 30, 2024

I

For all my little wins I’ll pat myself on the back`
I’ll come out of my body and hug myself from behind
For merely surviving everyday in a world- crispy cold like harmattan- I’ll look in the mirror and say “you did it girl”

I’ll give myself more grace and I’ll be a little less hard on me
I’ll marinate my words in kindness and spice it with tenderness
Like a melting butter on high heat, I’ll melt the harshness of life with self-love

For anything that happens to me, I’ll celebrate
I’ll raise a canopy of live band for the big wins
And dance like I won a lottery for the small wins
I’ll lose myself in the happiness of my own making

II

I’ll make myself radiant and beautiful because no one else deserve this but me
I’ll reward myself with beautiful, little, insignificant things just because
Like the red cross army I’ll will wear positivity in every situation

I’ll give myself lots of love because if I can’t love myself properly no one else can
I will make my heart into a garden and water it daily with words of affirmation
I’ll pursue relationships that will add nutrients and remove the weeds that wants to choke me

I’ll love those who love me and the middle finger to those who persecute me
And have enough kindness to go round
I’ll go after the best things I want in life
My soul has no other home but this body so I’ll be kind to it
